Policies and Local Laws

The Western Metropolitan Regional Council (WMRC) resolved by Absolute Majority on 3 October 2019 that the WMRC Local Government (Council Meetings) Local Law 2019 be published in the Local Government Gazette. It was published in Gazette No. 150 of 18 October 2019.

The purpose and effect of the proposed Local Law is to provide rules and guidelines which apply to the conduct of meetings of the Council and its committees:

All meetings will be conducted in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995, the Regulations under the Act and this Local Law.
The Local Law is intended to result in:

(a) better decision-making by the Council and committees;

(b) the orderly conduct of meetings dealing with Council business;

(d) the more efficient and effective use of time at meetings.

The Local Law came into effect on 1 November 2019.
