DESCRIPTION:Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of your local recycling centre. You’ll learn about the free reuse and recycling services on offer\, what happens to the waste from your bins once it’s picked up from the verge\, and what to do with those hard-to-recycle items. \nWhat we’ll cover: \n\nThe past and future of waste disposal in Perth\nThe role of a transfer station (us!) in the recovery of residual\, green\, and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste\nDisposal options for household waste including cardboard\, e-waste\, bulk polystyrene\, plastic plant pots\, bicycles\, x-rays\, whitegoods\, cooking oil\, mattresses\, scrap metal\, and more\nGovernment and industry initiatives to help you safely dispose of hazardous and problematic household items like paint\, chemicals\, pesticides\, batteries\, electronic waste\, and more for FREE\n\nWhat to wear: fully enclosed footwear \nWhat to bring: hat\, sunscreen\, and water bottle. \nThis event involves walking around an active site outdoors. A reasonable level of fitness is required. This tour is not suitable for children under the age of 12. Children between the ages of 12-16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Bookings are essential as places are limited to 15 people per tour. \nBook your ticket here \nWe look forward to seeing you at the Recycling Centre! \nTickets are non-refundable. If you cannot make this event\, please let us know in advance. \nMember council tickets are available to residents from Claremont\, Cottesloe\, Mosman Park\, Peppermint Grove & Subiaco. DESCRIPTION:Refresh your wardrobe for summer without the spend! \nFeaturing guest presenter and stylist Loraine Martin the Feelgood Fashionista\, our clothing swap is the perfect place to get that new-clothes feeling without the waste. Bring your quality unwanted clothes\, shoes and accessories and swap them for new-to-you items that you’ll love to wear. \nLoraine will answer your questions about textile waste and the circular fashion economy and share how you can build a sustainable wardrobe that works for you. \nVolunteers from Repair Lab will also be on hand to help you mend your clothing items with rips\, holes or missing buttons\, so they can stay in your life for longer. \n✨DO GOOD\, LOOK GOOD\, FEEL GOOD ✨ \nGet your ticket here \nHow it works: \n1) Once you’ve got your ticket\, take a look through your cupboards to find any good quality clothes\, shoes and accessories you no longer wear to bring to the swap. You can also bring items with rips\, holes or missing buttons to be mended by Repair Lab. \n2) Join us at Solaris Cancer Care Op Shop from 9.30am on the day to give your items to our fabulous volunteers\, who will weigh and sort them ready for the swap. You can also drop off your items ahead of time at one of our collection boxes\, located at The Grove Library and Community Centre and Subiaco Library. \n3) Have a seat in the hall while the volunteers are sorting. \n4) Sit back\, relax\, and learn about creating your sustainable wardrobe with Loraine the Feelgood Fashionista. \n5) After the presentation\, it’s time to move out to the swap area and take your time browsing the clothing racks until 1.00pm. \n❌ Please no kids’ clothes or bric-a-brac at this event ❌ \nTo make the swap enjoyable and worthwhile for everyone\, we ask that you only bring items that are clean\, good quality\, and free of pet hair. \nPlease arrive promptly as doors will shut at 10am. Tickets are limited\, so if you cannot make this event\, please let us know at least 1 day in advance so we can give your ticket to another attendee on the waitlist. \nPlease register for a ticket. Member council tickets are available to residents from Claremont\, Cottesloe\, Mosman Park\, Peppermint Grove & Subiaco. General admission tickets are available for Cambridge\, Nedlands and residents from other councils.
