Would you like to learn a bit more about how you can make a difference to the environment by placing your waste in the correct bin? At the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre you can come and see exactly what happens to your waste. If you can no longer attend this event\, your ticket can be swapped for another WMRC event. \nHow it works: \n1) Register for a ticket and look through your cupboards to find good-quality items you no longer wear to bring to the swap. \n2) Join us at Solaris Cancer Care Op Shop between 9.30 am – 10 am and hand your clothes over to be weighed and sorted by our lovely volunteers. You can also have a pre-shop at the Solaris’ Op Shop before the talk starts at 10 am. \n3) Have a seat in the presentation room while the volunteers sort the clothing for the swap. \n4) Relax and enjoy Loraine the Feelgood Fashionista discussing textile waste and the power of building your wardrobe. \n5) Move to the swap room and browse the clothing racks at your leisure between 11 am – 12 pm. \n❌ Please no kid’s clothes or bric-a-brac at this event ❌ \nPlease arrive promptly as doors will shut at 10am. Attendees are expected to stay for the duration of the event\, including the waste talk. Tickets are limited\, so if you cannot make this event\, please let us know at least 1 day in advance. Or thought about where to take items that can’t go in any of your household bins? \n\nFind out at a community tour of your local West Metro Recycling Centre in Shenton Park! See for yourself how a transfer station operates and the different community recycling services we offer local residents .\nWhat we’ll cover:\n\nThe history of Perth landfills and waste disposal\nThe purpose of transfer stations in recovery of residual\, green and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste.\nDisposal options for household waste including the recycling and recovery processes for cardboard\, e-waste\, bulk polystyrene\, plastic plant pot\, bicycles\, x-ray\, white goods\, cooking oil\, mattress\, scrap metal recycling\, and more\, and the different local organisations we partner with to make it happen!\nGovernment and industry initiatives that exist so that you can safely dispose of hazardous and problematic household items like paint\, poisons\, pesticides\, flares\, batteries\, fluorescent tubes\, fire extinguishers\, electronic waste and more for free at the Recycling Centre.\nEvent details:\n\nTime: 9.30am-11.00am\n\nWear: Fully enclosed footwear \, hat and sunscreen. Bring your own water bottle.\n\nTour: Your tour involves walking around an active site outdoors . A reasonable level of fitness is required.
