See for yourself how a transfer station operates and the different community recycling services we offer local residents 🧨. \nWhat we’ll cover: \n\nThe history of Perth landfills and waste disposal\nThe purpose of transfer stations in recovery of residual\, green and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste.\nDisposal options for household waste including the recycling and recovery processes for cardboard\, e-waste\, bulk polystyrene\, plastic plant pot\, bicycles\, x-ray\, white goods\, cooking oil\, mattress\, scrap metal recycling\, and more\, and the different local organisations we partner with to make it happen!\nGovernment and industry initiatives that exist so that you can safely dispose of hazardous and problematic household items like paint\, poisons\, pesticides\, flares\, batteries\, fluorescent tubes\, fire extinguishers\, electronic waste and more for free at the Recycling Centre.\n\nBuy tickets here:https://events.humanitix.com/west-metro-recycling-centre-community-tour-75p4wnua \nWear: Fully enclosed footwear 👞\, hat and sunscreen. DESCRIPTION:Keen to see what actually happens to your waste once it leaves your verge? Would you like to learn a bit more about how you can make a difference to the environment by placing your waste in the correct bin? At the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre you can come and see exactly what happens to your waste. On the tour you will get to see: \nThe FOGO Processing Facility\, where FOGO (food organics\, garden organics) material is pre-processed to remove contamination.\nThe Green Waste Facility\, where garden waste is turned into mulch.\nThe Materials Recovery Facility (MRF)\, where recyclables are separated\, baled and sold for reuse.\nThe Education Centre\, where there are lots more resources to help you to reduce\, reuse and recycle. \nDetails: \n📅 Date: Tuesday 28th May \n⏰ Time: 10 am – 12 pm \n🚩Location: Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre located at 350 Bannister Road\, Canning Vale WA 6155 \n🚙 Parking: There is free parking onsite \n👉RSVP: https://events.humanitix.com/rrg-tour \n💰 Cost: FREE \nIf you can no longer attend this event\, please contact community@wmrc.wa.gov.au at least 1 day in advance. \n🥾Wear: Fully enclosed footwear\, long pants\, hat and sunscreen. \nThe tour will be followed by a light morning tea and a presentation by WMRC officers. \nThe tour involves spending approximately 30-40 minutes walking outdoors on bush paths around the site. Kids (older than 6 years of age) are welcome on the tour – they must be registered for their own ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Visitors that have any allergies such as bee stings must bring an Epipen with them. Please note: in spring and summer\, snakes begin to emerge to bask in the sun and there may be an increase in sightings around the facility. See for yourself how a transfer station operates and the different community recycling services we offer local residents .\nWhat we’ll cover:\n\nThe history of Perth landfills and waste disposal\nThe purpose of transfer stations in recovery of residual\, green and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste.\nDisposal options for household waste including the recycling and recovery processes for cardboard\, e-waste\, bulk polystyrene\, plastic plant pot\, bicycles\, x-ray\, white goods\, cooking oil\, mattress\, scrap metal recycling\, and more\, and the different local organisations we partner with to make it happen!\nGovernment and industry initiatives that exist so that you can safely dispose of hazardous and problematic household items like paint\, poisons\, pesticides\, flares\, batteries\, fluorescent tubes\, fire extinguishers\, electronic waste and more for free at the Recycling Centre.\nEvent details:\n\nTime: 9.30am-11.00am\n\nWear: Fully enclosed footwear \, hat and sunscreen. Bring your own water bottle.\n\nTour: Your tour involves walking around an active site outdoors . A reasonable level of fitness is required. All you need to do is bring along quality kid’s clothes\, shoes\, and accessories (any style or season) and exchange them for items that are needed instead. 👗✨👠. \nSimply bring whatever you have and/or take whatever you need. \nGot some items to fix? 🛠️ Then bring any clothing\, jewellery or toys that need mending as we will have Repair Lab joining us on Saturday between 9 am to 11 am 🧵. \nDetails: \n📅 Date: Friday 9th February (3 pm – 5 pm) & Saturday 10th February (8 am – 11 am) \n⏳ Length: Come and go anytime.
