DESCRIPTION:Find out what happens to your waste once it’s picked up from the verge at a behind-the-scenes tour of your local recycling centre. Find out how a transfer station operates and the varied community recycling services on offer. \nWhat we’ll cover: \n\nThe history of Perth landfills and waste disposal\nThe purpose of transfer stations in the recovery of residual\, green\, and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste.\nDisposal options for household waste including the recycling and recovery processes for cardboard\, e-waste\, bulk polystyrene\, plastic plant pots\, bicycles\, x-rays\, white goods\, cooking oil\, mattresses\, scrap metal recycling\, and more.\nExisting government and industry initiatives that help you to safely dispose of hazardous and problematic household items like paint\, poisons\, pesticides\, flares\, batteries\, fluorescent tubes\, fire extinguishers\, electronic waste\, and more for FREE.\n\nWear: Fully enclosed footwear\, BYO hat\, sunscreen\, and water bottle. \nTour: This event involves walking around an active site outdoors. A reasonable level of fitness is required. Your tour will be followed by time for questions\, a cuppa\, and light refreshments. This tour is not suitable for children under the age of 12. Children between the ages of 12-16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
