A new interactive workshop series by the Western Metropolitan Regional Council (WMRC) will go back to basics on managing household waste.
If you’ve ever practiced ‘wishcycling’ – placing items you aren’t sure about in the recycling bin and hoping for the best – this three-part series is for you.
The workshops will make wishcycling a thing of the past by covering what goes in what bin and where to take those hard-to-recycle items, as well as giving participants the opportunity to tour a local recycling facility to see what really happens to their waste. Participants can attend one session or all three.
“It’s perfect for people looking for simple ways to be more sustainable in their everyday life,” says Libby Eustance, Manager Communications and Education at the WMRC.
“Everyone creates waste, so it’s about taking control of the things that leave our households and making sure they go where they’ll have the smallest possible impact on the environment.”
“You’ll also learn that there are some items that are best avoided altogether, because we just don’t have sustainable solutions for them.”
Participants can bring along some items they’re not sure what to do with, and the WMRC’s expert waste educators will explain where they should go and why.
Tickets are just $5 per session and will be held at Subiaco Library and The Grove Library. Book your tickets here.
