the West Metro Recycling Centre accepts used hair care products and their packaging for recyclingor

Recycling your used personal care products just got easier, thanks to a new partnership between the West Metro Recycling Centre and Terracycle.

As a collection site for Terracycle, you can now drop off an extensive range of oral care products, hair care products, shaving items and their packaging, so they can be responsibly recycled into new products.

What’s accepted?

Colgate Oral Care Recycling Program: any brand of oral care product packaging including toothpaste tubes and caps, manual toothbrushes, electric toothbrush heads, toothbrush and toothpaste tube plastic packaging, floss containers.

Electric Toothbrush Recycling Program: All brands of electric toothbrush handles, electric toothbrush bases and sonic battery powered toothbrush handles.

Gillette Razor Recycling Program: Any brand of used razors and razor blades(refillable and disposable products, and replaceable-blade cartridge units) and their packaging, including rigid and flexible packaging.

the WMRC now accepts disposable razors and blades for recycling

Schwarzkopf Cares Recycling Program: Any brand of used hair care & colour packaging, including jars, lids, bottles, closures, tubes, pumps, caps (made from plastics and flexible or rigid aluminium) and gloves (made from latex, HDPE, Nitrile, PE).

What will my old toothpaste tube be recycled into?

Plastics collected by Terracycle are recycled into outdoor furniture and decking, plastic shipping pallets, watering cans, storage containers and bins, tubes for construction applications, flooring tiles, playground surface covers and athletic fields.
