Workshops
Deadly Denim upcycled jackets Upcycling with Deadly Denim Join Beck from Deadly Denim to learn how to upcycle a denim jacket by adding an Aboriginal print. (Find out about Beck’s journey here!) Featuring a morning and afternoon session, this is a ticketed event and registration is essential. Register for the morning session or afternoon session.
Sewing at Studio Thimbles Make a cushion cover out of fabric scraps with Studio Thimbles SOLD OUT! The talented team at Studio Thimbles in Subiaco will teach you how to upcycle your fabric scraps and offcuts into a beautiful cushion cover. This is a ticketed event – join the waitlist.
Vinyl banner carry bags Make a tote bag out of a rescued vinyl banner with Wilma Save an outdated vinyl banner from landfill by learning how to make it into a useful and water-resistant tote bag. This is a ticketed event and registration is essential.
Balls of rag yarn made from old textiles Introduction to rag weaving with Sharon Sharon will show you how to give old, unusable textiles a second life by making them into rag yarn that can be woven into dishcloths and other useful items. Limited spaces available – get your ticket here.
Close up of a lace wedding dress Make reusable party decorations out of textiles SOLD OUT! Join WMRC for an upcycling workshop using rescued wedding dresses! Attendees will take home their own low-waste, reusable party and Christmas decorations, including festive garlands, tulle pom-poms, and ornaments. This is a ticketed event and registration is essential.
Darning a sock Visible Mending for Beginners: Basket Darning Tobi Beckley will show you how to darn over holes with beauitful designs at this beginners’ workshop hosted by Calico & Ivy. This is a ticketed event and registration is essential.

Clothing Swap with the Style Counsellor Bring in your unwanted quality clothes, shoes and accessories and swap them for items you’ll love to wear. Hosted by the Style Counsellor Ciara Lowe-Thiedeman, who will show you how to become sustainably stylish, re-think and reduce textile waste, and consider how to BUY LESS, BUY BETTER, LOOK BETTER AND DO BETTER. Styling with the Curated Wardrobe Sustainable style tour of Subiaco with the Curated Wardrobe SOLD OUT! Join Hazel from the Curated Wardrobe for a walking tour of the best spots to source high-quality preloved items in Subiaco. Hazel will bring her knowledge and expertise as a stylist to your personalised shopping experience, helping you curate a wardrobe that works for you. Register for your ticket here!
Repair Lab volunteers mending textiles with sewing machines Repair Lab session Bring your damaged clothes and jewellery to The Grove Community Centre and the talented volunteers at Repair Lab will help you get them mended so they can live on in your wardrobe. This is a free, drop-in session between 10am-12pm. Find out more.
Drop you textile offcuts at the West Metro Recycling Centre Textile offcut collection at the West Metro Recycling Centre Not sure what to do with your leftover fabric offcuts and scraps? We’ll be holding a pop-up collection at the West Metro Recycling Centre in Shenton Park and passing them on to Remida to be used by local artists and teachers.
Attendees browse the racks of secondhand clothing Adult Clothing Swap – Open session Could your wardrobe use a sustainable refresh but you can’t commit to a swap event? Join the open clothing swap session to browse through quality garments donated by the community at your leisure. Tickets are required due to venue capacity – register here!
