Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of your local recycling centre. You’ll learn about the free reuse and recycling services on offer, what happens to the waste from your bins once it’s picked up from the verge, and what to do with those hard-to-recycle items.

What we’ll cover:

• The past and future of waste disposal in Perth
• The role of a transfer station (us!) in the recovery of residual, green, and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste
• Disposal options for household waste including cardboard, e-waste, bulk polystyrene, plastic plant pots, bicycles, x-rays, whitegoods, cooking oil, mattresses, scrap metal, and more
• Government and industry initiatives to help you safely dispose of hazardous and problematic household items like paint, chemicals, pesticides, batteries, electronic waste, and more for FREE

What to wear: fully enclosed footwear

What to bring: hat, sunscreen, and water bottle.

This event involves walking around an active site outdoors. A reasonable level of fitness is required. This tour is not suitable for children under the age of 12. Children between the ages of 12-16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Bookings are essential as places are limited to 15 people per tour.

General admission tickets are available to residents of Cambridge, Nedlands and other councils.
