Upgrading your queen or kids single beds and don’t know what to do with the old ones?
Your old bedframe may help turn a house into a home after crisis.
The WMRC is hosting a bed drive for Starting Over Support (SOS) – a community initiative of People Who Care, and dedicated to providing furniture and household goods to people who have become homeless through domestic violence or crisis. Queen and single bed frames, along with clean single bed mattresses are always in short supply and determine how many children and families SOS can support.
Each month the SOS program supports around 40 families and individuals. Individuals and families are referred to SOS by crisis centres, refuges, government and non-government agencies for support to assist in the transition from crisis accommodation by furnishing homes.
The service is not government funded. Instead, it relies on the generosity of the community through financial support, donation of goods and many volunteer hours.
Can your old beds be reused to give a struggling family a new start? Please contact the SOS Donations Line on 0403 367767 or email sos.donations@peoplewhocare.org.au with images of your bed frames.
