Join WMRC for National Recycling Week! We can take you to the coal face of recycling in WA, explain the impacts of China’s recycling restrictions, teach you how to recycle organics at home, answer all your burning recycling questions and basically help you get your R’s into gear – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Our series of events will demystify waste and recycling and inspire you to take steps, large and small, to recycle right.

Recycling facility tour to SMRC RRRC, Wednesday 14 Nov

Join us on a tour of the SMRC Regional Resource Recovery Centre as part of National Recycling Week. We will take tour of the facility to see first-hand what happens to the content of your yellow topped recycling bin beyond the kerb. We will also tour SMRC’s industrial composting system. We will see what goes in and what comes out of both systems and have a chance to ask lots of questions!

Free event. Light morning tea included.

Please be aware the tour includes stairs and closed in footwear is essential.

Get your R’s into Gear for National Recycling Week: Reduce Reuse Recycle, Thurs 15 Nov (Grove Library) & Thurs 22 Nov (Subiaco Library)

Join waste educator Amy Warne as she sorts through common household waste items and discusses which bins to use and where the items will end up. Take a virtual deep dive into a wheelie bin and answer the burning questions like:

what to put in what bin?

where does our recycling and waste end up?

what about China’s ban on recycling?

what about the future of waste in WA?

One lucky participant will win a low waste kit!

Compost in Mosman Park, Saturday 24 Nov, St Luke’s Community Garden

Join compost guru, Amy from WMRC to get the secrets to simple, hassle-free home composting at this hands-on workshop. We will show you how to turn your kitchen scraps into rich compost for your garden.

The first 10 registrations from these councils will receive a free Compost Starter Kit which includes a compost bin, compost turner and kitchen caddy.
