Wishing there was one place close to take unwanted furniture, clothes, toys, household items and books without having to drive all over the place?
There is.
Nestled within Shenton Park’s Montario Quarter is ParaQuad Industries, a charity giving unwanted quality items a new life, while creating sustainable employment for people with disabilities.
“Many locals don’t realise that they have a thriving example of the circular economy on their doorstep driven by our quality donations,” says Acting CEO Libby Eustance, Western Metropolitan Regional Council.
“Under one roof, ParaQuad collects and sorts donations for sale, processes pre-owned fabrics into rags, runs specialised services direct to public and reinvests profits back into the organisation to keep it all going.”
“An onsite bookstore, op-shop and specialized services like bulk mail, goods packaging, picture framing and industrial rag processing from pre-owned clothing are just a few of our services direct to public,” says Mark Verma, Communication & Project Officer, Alinea ParaQuad Industries.”
“We also have Return-It onsite – making it easy to donate or get cash for your eligible empties.” he added.
Like all op shops, ParaQuad relies on quality donations that are clean, working and complete. No mattresses, broken, incomplete, dismantled, or damaged items please, as they cost ParaQuad money to dispose of. Money that could be spent helping those with disabilities. If it’s no good to give away, book Verge Valet™ or keep for your bulk verge collection.
To get a rare glimpse of how ParaQuad Industries and Return-it close the loop on the circular economy, the WMRC is running a behind the scenes tour next Thursday 5 May, 10AM – 12NOON. Tickets cost $5 (+ booking fee), with proceeds donated to ParaQuad. Tickets available here. Refreshments included.
