What we do
To help you manage your waste wisely, the WMRC provides comprehensive waste recycling, treatment and disposal services for acceptable items, seven days a week, for residents, businesses and councils. In its capacity as a transfer station, the West Metro Recycling Centre aggregates, compacts and loads large volumes of municipal solid waste into silos for effective and efficient transfer to distant sites for appropriate treatment or disposal.
We received around 25,000 tonnes of waste and recyclables from councils, commercial customers and residents in 2019-20. Residual waste from the district and across our west central catchment area is consolidated into silos at the West Metro Recycling Centre and efficiently transported in 24 tonne loads for disposal.
