West Metro Recycling Centre

Find out how easy it is to put waste and recycling in the right place at the West Metro Recycling Centre. Member & Participating Council residents can drop off a range of items for free and others for a fee. Competitive rates exist for commercials too. See below for details.

Please note that gatehouse staff have discretion to require customers use the weighbridge as the basis of charging.

What We Do

Open seven days a week, the West Metro Recycling Centre provides comprehensive waste recycling, treatment and disposal services for acceptable items for residents, businesses and councils. In its capacity as a transfer station, the Recycling Centre aggregates and compacts large volumes of municipal solid waste (FOGO, GO, and general waste) for effective and efficient transfer to distant sites for appropriate treatment or disposal.

Where We Are

The West Metro Recycling Centre is located on the corner of Brockway Road and Lemnos Street in Shenton Park. Entry is off Brockway Road.

Opening Hours
  • Monday – Friday: 7.30AM – 4.00PM (3.45PM last entry)
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8.00AM – 4.00PM (3.45PM last entry)
  • Public Holidays:* 7.30AM – 2.00PM (1.45PM last entry)

Please note that last vehicles are accepted through the gates 15 minutes before closing time. This is to ensure you have time to unload your waste materials.

*Only closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day

Waste Passes

We accept waste passes from residents of the following council areas:

  • Town of Claremont
  • Town of Mosman Park
  • Shire of Peppermint Grove
  • City of Subiaco
  • Selected residents from some other Verge Valet™ councils

Terms & Conditions of Entry

For your safety, please read and respect the conditions of use and entry to this site.

  • Scavenging of any waste onsite is strictly prohibited.
  • Appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear must be worn at all times.
  • Children and animals must remain in vehicles at all times.
  • All trucks, removalist vans and large loads must utilise the weighbridge.
  • All asbestos products, flares and EPIRBs must be declared to the site attendant.
  • Obey all signs and directions from the site attendants.
  • Treat staff with respect. Aggressive language and behaviour will not be tolerated.

Entry is at your own risk. To the full extent permissible by the law, the Western Metropolitan Regional Council disclaims any liability for any damages, loss or injury occurring as a result of your use of the facility.
